The Deer of Nara

Maxim-Ross.com: Day in Nara

Deer and Temples

Spending a day in Nara was an amazing experience. I started my journey at Nara Park, where I was greeted by friendly deer wandering freely. They were curious and came close, hoping for treats. Some bowed before I gave them food, which was adorable. Walking through the park, I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, with trees, ponds, and open spaces all around.

Next, I visited Todai-ji Temple, home to the Great Buddha. The temple was huge, with a beautiful wooden entrance. Inside, the giant bronze Buddha statue was breathtaking. The temple had an ancient and sacred feel, and I took my time admiring the details. Outside, more deer roamed the grounds, blending perfectly with the traditional setting.

Later, I explored Kasuga Taisha, a beautiful shrine with red torii gates and stone lanterns lining the path. The walk through the forest was peaceful, and the shrine’s architecture was stunning. I ended my day strolling through the streets, enjoying the mix of history and nature. Nara was unforgettable, a place full of culture, beauty, and charming deer everywhere.
